MOUNTAIN BIKING: Precipice/Sidewinder/Suicidal Tendencies

← UT SANTA CLARA RIVER PINE VALLEY UT Single Tracks →

Description

This is three stacked trails. The first, Precipice, is just a mile, connecting the parking lot with Sidewinder. Sidewinder is a lollipop starting at the end of Precipice. Precipice and Sidewinder are intermediate with Sidewinder having one advanced move. Just after taking the left fork on the loop portion of Sidewinder, there is an option to start a new lollipop on Suicidal Tendencies. Suicidal Tendencies is more advanced both technically and physically. It drops sharply about 500 feet off the mesa and makes the climb up onto the next mesa. Once you get to the loop portion, go left and you've got another 300 vertical feet of gradual climbing with a slightly steeper return to the intersection and then the plummet into the valley. Of course, you still have to make the more challenging climb back up to Sidewinder at this point to complete the route back to the start.

Directions

From St. George, follow Sunset Blvd west. Drive through Santa Clara. After passing through Santa Clara, look left for a bridge crossing the river just before the Jacob Hamblin Home. Cross the river and follow the road around a hard right. Shortly thereafter, turn left and follow the road up past a water tank to the parking area on the right.
